GHANA – In 2021, a young woman named Rose (a pseudonym used to protect her identity) faced a pivotal moment in her life. With a passion for fashion design but confronting immense societal and personal pressures, her future seemed uncertain. Recognizing her determination, the Somnia Osbrain Foundation stepped in, offering a lifeline through its Young Mothers Empowerment Program.
This initiative was designed to provide critical support, including mentorship, financial aid, and access to education, enabling girls to stay in school and pursue their dreams. With this support, Rose successfully completed her Senior High education this year, overcoming significant obstacles.
Today, Rose is building her career through a three-month internship at Garment Construction Technology, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the fashion industry. Her journey is a testament to the life-changing power of the Young Mothers Empowerment Program. Her success is already a source of inspiration for other young mothers in the program, demonstrating that a brighter future is within reach despite their challenges.
Upon completing her internship, Rose will take on a leadership role as a mentor for children in the After-School Fashion Design and Technology Program. In this new capacity, she will continue the cycle of empowerment by guiding the next generation of aspiring designers.
Rose's story is one of five successful journeys fostered by the Young Mothers Empowerment Program. The program has supported four other young mothers with vocational training, educational access, and psychosocial support, equipping them with the confidence and skills needed to break cycles of poverty and dependence.
These remarkable achievements would not be possible without the generosity of our donors and their belief in our vision. As we celebrate these milestones, we recognize that there is still much work to be done. We invite you to continue your support by engaging with our upcoming campaigns and community events.
