BAKPE, GHANA – In a small rural village in Ghana's Volta Region, the story of Patience is a powerful testament to the impact of timely intervention and community support. Having recently completed her Senior High School education, Patience was at a high risk of early pregnancy, a fate that befalls many young girls in her community, where opportunities are scarce.
Her path changed when the Somnia OSBRAIN Foundation's "Find-Her Outreach Initiative" arrived in her village. A personal connection made the encounter even more meaningful—Patience was a past student of the foundation's Chief Director, a link that forged an immediate bond of trust.
The foundation's team visited her family, sitting with her parents to understand her dreams and aspirations. It was there that Patience, though speaking softly, revealed her conviction: she wanted to become a fashion designer. That single moment marked the beginning of her transformational journey.
With the backing of dedicated donors and the foundation’s empowerment model, Patience was enrolled in a two-year intensive skills training program at the Feminine Star Africa Skills Training Center in Hohoe. She immersed herself in the curriculum, mastering design, tailoring, and garment construction. Her progress was not just remarkable—it was a tangible sign of a new future being stitched together, one stitch at a time.
Today, Patience is a proud graduate and has blossomed into a leader and a mentor. She is now poised to train other young mothers through the foundation's "After-School Fashion Design and Technology Program." She will specifically be working in her home community of Bakpe and other marginalized areas in the Ho West District, turning her dream into a mission to empower others.
